Collaboration Highlights Park's Attractiveness to Prospective Companies

Clinton, IA – A Water Main Design Agreement has created a renewed partnership between the Clinton Regional Development Corporation (CRDC) and the Iowa-American Water Company (IAWC). The agreement allows for the full design of a water main extension from the intersection of US Highway 30 and Mill Creek Parkway, to the Lincolnway Industrial Rail & Air Park. The distance of the extension is measured at approximately 3.5 miles, and is supported by the construction of a booster station. The completion of the design phase of the extension will reduce the installation timeframe by approximately six (6) months.

After receiving Site Certification from the Iowa Economic Development Authority in 2016, the Lincolnway Industrial Rail & Air Park has piqued the interest of companies from every corner of the globe. The attractiveness of the development site is further enhanced by the finalizing of this agreement. As companies continue investigating new locations, the existence of an accessible water main line gives Clinton’s development site a sharpened edge.

“We are excited to continue our partnership with Iowa American Water” said Mike Johnson, Chairman of the Clinton Regional Development Corporation Board of Directors. “This agreement overcomes one of our last obstacles in the Rail Park and solidifies the shovel-ready status of the Park. Let’s go!”

The CRDC has had an interest in the park since the site’s land acquisition in 2003. As owners of 200+ acres within the park, the CRDC understands their role in its future development. The organization has agreed to pay IAWC $40,000 prior to the commencement of the design, and, in return, IAWC shall deliver its completed design documents to the CRDC.

“We are dedicated to collaborating with the Clinton Regional Development Corporation and the City of Clinton to upgrade our water distribution systems to support local economic development and growth. In a public-private partnership with Iowa American Water, we truly believe the public comes first,” said
Randy Moore, President of Iowa American Water. “The success of the Lincolnway Industrial Rail & Air Park is a win-win for the entire region.”

The partnership between the Clinton Regional Development Corporation and Iowa American Water Company showcases the success that can be achieved through collaboration, and a willingness to remain focused on the region’s best interests.
